REFLECTION, INTERPRETATION AND OPINION IN LITERARY PIECE "ANG PIPIT"

 

       Ang Pipit is a Filipino cry of hope, redemption, and independence comparable to a Pipit, a little passerine bird. This song depicts the tragic reality of Filipinos who are still imprisoned in their own country. Levi Celerio provided a well-crafted song filled with imagery and symbolism that no one can match. Simple lines, simple notes, yet a strange influence on the listener. It is considered a classic in the Contemporary Music scene and serves as a reminder of the work that must be done to free the nation from the bonds of enslavement to others. The pupils in the video have provided another twist on the classic, "Ang Pipit," while employing, quote, "instruments that are not often utilized," The music video is composed of tiny boxes as the group plays the song. The music cover is distinct from previous versions used in nursery rhymes and other contexts. Among other things, this has given the music cover an "Indie" vibe, which is a common mood employed in Indie genres, as seen by the singers and beat included in such. I have come to enjoy the music cover since it has given a new life to the song, it has given it another purposeful meaning, and has given it a new twist that promotes a classic piece of work to another listening audience of today, such as myself. With this, I have come to realize that such works though have aged, are just like a wine; through time they made more relevant, and more strong in the sense that their message deepens. The sad narrative behind the popular Filipino folk ballad "Ang Pipit" If we take the words literally, they talk of a bird that was hit by a stone. Because of the agony and severity of the damage, the unfortunate creature was unable to fly and fell off the tree. But before it touched the ground, it expressed concern that another bird would be saddened by the death of the former, and that the man was too harsh to take the life of an innocent living animal. It expresses nationalistic emotions and how life should be treasured. conveyed its sorrow that another bird would be sorrowful and that the man was too harsh for stealing the life of an innocent living being.
